The Aerosol Magee Scientific team visits China

The Aerosol Magee Scientific teams from the management, sales, R&D, and research departments, have recently returned from a successful two-week-long trip to China.

During their trip, they visited several reputable scientific customers and a partner in Beijing and attended the 14. National Aerosol Conference in Hefei where they unveiled and introduced the brand new instruments AE36 and AE36s, as well as the autoloader, an addition to the improved DRI 2015 Series 2.

The work trip begins in Beijing

First, the Aerosol Magee Scientific team alongside BMET, our Chinese distributor, visited the National Institute of Metrology, China (NIM), China’s highest research facility of measurement science. There, our team learnt more about the work of the institute with Dr. Yue Liu from the Particle Metrology department. Next was the visit to the Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) where Prof. Yongchun Liu of Aerosol and Haze Laboratory presented the lab’s work, and Brown Carbon and its health effects in China. Our researcher Dr. Balint Alföldy presented the advanced TC/BC method. BUCT is a long-time user of Aethalometer AE33.

The trip continues…

The end of the first week of the trip included the visit of the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, CAS, China Academy of Science (IAP-CAS), where the team met with Director Xin Jinyuan, and Dr. Bálint Alföldy carried out a presentation on source apportionment. Prof. Wen Tianxue, who was also present at the presentation, is a user of DRI 2001.

The next day, the teams of Aerosol Magee Scientific and BMET visited the Nankai University, College of Environmental Sciences Tianjin, where we would like to express thanks to Prof. Yinchang Feng and Dr. Qili Dai and where Dr. Bálint Alföldy presented the advanced TC/BC method. The Nankai University was the first to have the TOF mass spectrometer coupled with a multi-wavelength carbon analyzer system in China and the world.

Greetings from China!

The second part of the trip by the Aerosol Magee Scientific team took place in Hefei where the team arrived via train but not before taking some time to walk a few miles of the Great Wall of China and admire the highlights of Beijing including the famous Water Cube (The National Aquatics Centre), and the Bird’s Nest (Beijing National Stadium).

The 14th National Aerosol Conference

To conclude the trip well, Aerosol Magee Scientific team visited the 14th National Aerosol Conference where BMET was the Golden Sponsor.

Dr. Bálint Alföldy had a talk on Determining carbonaceous Aerosol fingerprints for sites with different climatic conditions and emission profiles using the advanced total carbon–black carbon (TC-BC(λ)) method and presented the poster New 9λ Aethalometer model AE36s – Performance and advanced characterization of Aerosol sources. He also did the technical education of the new instruments, AE36, and AE36s, at the saloon organized by BMET.
